There's a very interesting article in todays online Euro weekly news entitled "Spain in last minute bid to halt the exodus of British ex-pats to Portugal."
It doesn't however give any indication of what the last minute bid, or bids, may be.

It reads as though the writer has a real downer on Spain.

Agreed. Rubbish article full of misinformation. Should be ignored!

Typical of most of these Brit rag freebie newspapers.

It is obviously a load of poppycock the NHR SCHEME is definitely going to change since many Northern European countries are determined to cut it back on the pension transfers and I believe Sweden and Holland are in the lead on this. Also like for like house prices are much higher. Restaurant prices are generally lower except for Michelin *.

Under the withdrawal agreement things such as healthcare and pensions will remain the same in all EU COUNTRIES. Portugal’s public healthcare is not as good as Spain’s but private care is much the same if you have insurance. I would think you are better off where you for now.

Euro weekly news is just the Spanish edition of the Beano.

It can be quite annoying when you read the news in a spanish paper or website, then 2 or 3 days later its rehashed, normally badly, as "breaking news" by the so called brit papers.

It would help if they (the writers & editors) could actually read spanish without google translate...

Found the article - a total load of rubbish with nothing to substantiate it except a whinge about some British bars being shut down.

Years ago when another freebie was published someone was going around taking the whole batch from outside the distributors. Eventually tracked down to some guy who was using them to make brikettes to burn in a log burner.
