can't say I have, although some spanish do seem genuinely shocked when you tell them that you're not exactly rolling in cash!

... well as an ex newspaper man, (was it NUJ or Printworkers Union?) he'd be used to spin........
re. expats with Spain-generated income, are there figures for what percentage of expats actually have fully legal jobs here & are contributing to the system? Seems to me I know a lot of people with one half of the couple plying to & fro to earn a UK income, or people making some kind of a living in slightly black money 'building' & odd-jobbing, or ultimately giving up & going back home. (Netherlands being the last ones I know, not UK)
And of course the older population will with some justification say they've contributed in the UK & as part of the EU why shouldn't they get their entitlement here instead.

Not noticed any change, there's Spanish who hate Brits and there some who don't mind them. Its the way its been since I moved here.

Ditto with the brits, also mentioned in the article, who resent immigrants. Employment/unemployment is often just an excuse.
