Anyone ever had a structural report done

I've noticed some downward cracks appearing in the wall of my parking area which is raised up by about 3 meters.

I was considering having a structural report done so I could go forarmed to the builder if necessary. Anyone used one, and if so was it expensive?

Muchos G!

Re: Anyone ever had a structural report done

Never had one done here in Spain as I do my own, but if you want one done in your area.

All structural reports used to be done by the Aperejadors & Architects in Spain:ohmy:

If you have one done make sure that it is not from within the area of your builder  .....because of the enchufe  ...which is rife here.

Or alternatively if you can get one around your area a structural engineer, now I'm sure that there are a couple on this forum, who may be able to help for a fee no doubt, if they are still registered and practising

Re: Anyone ever had a structural report done

Yes, I'm one of them, but not in your area I'm afraid!
Usual causes of cracks in (retaining) walls are: inadequate drainage of the ground being supported behind resulting in a build-up of water pressure; lack of movement joints resulting in cracking when thermal expansion/contraction occurs or just inadequate design of the wall or its foundations in the first place! There you go, advice for free ;) Can you post a photo?

Re: Anyone ever had a structural report done

I see two reasons for the problem in addition to JDR's help.

1) Tha there car is Red.

2) No hole at the base of the wall for it to relieve itself.

Thanks for showing us yer crack though, got anymore dirty pictures:D

forward two meters and it will be at the bottom of the garden after it rolls down the hill, and back two meters it will be in the swimming pool. But at least it will get rid of my cracks.

Should my crack get bigger, I will not hesitate to share it with you all
