Anyone answer this Ryanair Question?
Most grateful if anyone can.
We have three return flights for first week of May booked with hold luggage. The Ryanair site now tells us that all flight tickets can be printed online to save doing it at the airport.
So what happens with the hold luggage? I have heard that Ryanair are introducing baggage drops in airports. Is this the case at Alicante and indeed East Midlands where we depart from? Don't want to front up at the airports to find out we can't get aboard because there is no ticket desk available.
This information is sadly lacking on the Ryanair site, it would seem prudent to make available a list of the roll out airports for this scheme, but hey ho, that's Ryanair.

There will be baggage 'drop points'.

EasyJet allow you to print boarding passes whether you have luggage or not - HOWEVER if you turn up with luggage you have to check in as normal. ie it is only worth doing if you're just travelling with hand luggage. Ryanair may of course be different, but that's what Ezy do.

Re: Anyone answer this Ryanair Question?
When we flew with Ryanair last August we couldn`t check-in on-line as we had one bag that had to go in the hold. We had to go to the check-in desk. I don`t know if it has changed in the last 6 months.

There have been a lot of changes in the last six months. I am flying Ryanair East Midlands tomorrow, will try to establish what the deal is with hold luggage.

Hi
Yes you print out your own ticket; it will be inspected at the baggage drop.
The baggage drop does not print your ticket YOU DO !!!!
There is / will be no ticket desks at Ryanair. However at Stansted it was possible to print your ticket at one of the Ryanair machines. (no people involved).
One question; why when someone asks a Ryanair question do people put stuff about easyjet - it bears no relevance.

Re: Anyone answer this Ryanair Question?
We flew back with Ryanair in January with hold luggage, when we got to Stanstead we had to checkin via one of the many auto check-in machines and then take our hold luggage to a drop off desk where it was weighed. If you are over the luggage limit at this point you go and pay and then come back. Hand luggage is also weighed at this point and a tag attached to it so it will not be weighed again when you get to the gate. There was a Ryanair rep standing near by to point us in the right direction, all very painless

Re: Anyone answer this Ryanair Question?
Friends have used Valencia and East Midlands this week and there was NO drop-off point at either airport.
People with hold baggage have to queue in the usual way.
Many passengers seemed confused with this system and thought they could print their boarding tickets at a machine at the airports, which they could not as there were no machines and all had to pay 20 quid or 20 euros to book in again.

I can't help feeling Ryanair have shot themselves in the foot by this measure. It's one thing to charge for different items; quite another to make the system so confusing that potential customers are put off. I've travelled in the past with Ryanair; I doubt I will ever again whilst they've got this confusion over how to take luggage.

So the consensus seems to be that we have to print our tickets online at home, but then queue up to check in our hold luggage.
Thats about right for Ryanair

An answer: as with many folk I read threads out of interest, and not solely about things directly relating to me (have not so far travelled Ryanair, don't discount it totally, but hmmmm I wonder why...) - there may be EasyJet users reading the thread who had not yet checked in online so could wonder. Or Ryanair users wondering about the other airlines. Sorry for seeming a pain in the **** . Not as much, I would venture, as Michael O'Leary!!!! What a system it sounds now.......

Re: Anyone answer this Ryanair Question?
Just to be clear go to the ryanaiar website.
Whether you have hold luggage or hand luggage you will print your tickets at home.
If hold baggage you will drop it off at a baggage drop point at the airport.
There will be no ryanair check in desks at any UK airports.
As usual with uncle Mick it'll screw up big time:curse:
But i lurve those prices so much i don't care!
