Any ideas what herb this could be?

Have come across this but not sure what it is, it is similar to mint as in that it is very invasive when growing, it has a strong smell mint like but not one that I have come across before, the flowers are lilac and under the flower brackt is 2 leaves, the gap between each flower brackt is about 1inch the flower heads go around the stem.
Anyone got any ideas as I have googled mint, nepeta, cat mint but nothing comes close to looking like this.

Had you not said it smelt like mint I would have said it looks like the onion family.
