Default Any Airconditioning firm recommendations for Torremolinos area?

hi there we've just bought a 2 bed apartment on the top floor of a block in central torremolinos. it's about 86 square metres in total I would say. Please could anyone recommend a company in the locality who would be able to supply and fit airconditioning? We have emailed a company in Fuengirola called Koldair and are awaiting a reply but they only seem to use one make of unit. It's hard to get impartial advice about how many units we should install etc. We want units that are quiet and will provide heat in winter. We don't mind paying a bit more for better quality build and cheaper running costs. Also we are thinking of installing a meter as we will be renting out when we get it sorted out. any thoughts on this? We're always very careful when we rent abroad but have been warned not everyone is the same. any hints tips or recommendations would be great. thanks

I used, and continue to use for servicing, a chap called Paul. I can´t remember the name of his company but his tel no. is 607793923. He´s reliable, knowledgeable and efficient.

The best units are Daikin and Mitsubushi, they also work in reverse to provide heat in the winter if needed. Best to go for Inverter models as they are much cheaper to run and electric costs are rising.

Just get a quote first, it may be cheaper to replace with a cheap unit even if it only needs gas, they have a nasty habbit of charging you for petrol and saying they came from Madrid, be warned

thanks for all your replies. yes mitsubishi and daikin have been recommended by workmates in england and also the inverter system which I understand is more expensive to install but cheaper to run. What we have to work out is whether we will realise the saving in running costs as realistically we will only probably spend a total of about 6-8 weeks there ourselves until the kids are a bit older and will not be moving over full-time at any point. We will be (hopefully) renting it out to holidaymakers as well and mainly using it in the autumn/spring/winter hopefully so this has to be taken into account.

Get a cheap unit fitted by carrefor, not brilliant but fitting included in price and quick they also come quite cheap fitted, I have a cheap one from them and an expensive one, there is a difference but if you are renting it out, it's cheap enough to replace when it packs in.

I heard about that deal at Carrefour from the estate agent but had assumed the free fitting would only be applicable if you were just replacingt an existing unit rather than starting from scratch. Will have to go and see when we go over next month. thanks again

oh sorry and we are prepared to pay a premium for a quiet machine as we've had some horrors on holidays in the past which are really loud and annoying!

No doubt about it, the more you pay the best you get, but if you want cheap, Carrefors are ok, they work and are not really noisy, and fit from scratch all the best

Bought with another 2 friends 12 units from Koldair and Mark was a good chap to deal with as John the Koldair owner is back in the uk with health problems, they are easy to fit and gas plus it looks like they are doing a deal on coin meters to.We have installed these (TIM 30) meters as well and at 125 pounds plus 50 euros fitting they will return your investment within 3 years approx.

Hi yes it's just the make of unit that they install - Fujima - that I am concerned about as I can't find any information about them. I would also be interested from people who already have aircon as to how many units they have in their properties. ours is a 2 bed apartment probably standard size about 85 sq metres ish and a couple of people (not aircon specialists) have suggested that one unit in the living room should suffice but I think we need at least another in one of the bedrooms and preferably both. Also do people always have the cabling on top of the wall and boxed in or is it feasible to chase it into the wall or ceiling (we are on the top floor). Sorry for all the questions but I think this will be the most important decision we make after the purchase of the apartment itself!
