Anybody got any ideas on how to deal with the little critters. The hot weather on the CDS has brought them out in abundance and we are getting fed up of finding them in the beds, cupboards, dog bowl etc.

.... ant powder does work if you know where their runs are. Boiling water at the point where they go under the wall or wherever, outside the house of course! Other than that the only thing I find helps is scrupulously cleaning work surfaces, etc., following behind kids to avoid dropped crumbs, etc. And if you can put the dog bowl(s) up on something with a shiny surface so the ants can´t climb, that may help. Oddly, weŕe having far less of a problem this year than last!

Use Talcum powder, it`s cheaper and smells better and the ants die of sneezing.

We have used a product called ZUM. However it is highly poisonous so where protective clothing and a mask when using it. We did not the first time and one of us was very very ill because of it. Having looked up the contents on the web found out how effective this works!

It works for a year and only a light sparying of the surface needs to be done. It will smell, if used inside, for a few days.

Echoing those thoughts...do not leave ANY food where ants might get to. They WILL find it.

Well, we had them originally, but touch wood they are no longer a problem.

I have a deal with them They stay out in the garden and I leave them alone. They come in the house and they die.

Kidding aside, these were the steps we took. First and foremost be scrupulously clean. No petfood in the house. All food containers antproof, and scrupulous hygiene in the kitchen. If we forgot, and they came in, the area where they entered was given a quick anti ant spray. I really don't like those chems in the house, but where needs must...

Any time they make their presence known, work out where they are coming in and seal the holes, - eg around door frames.

You can't ant proof your house, but you can make it less attractive.

When they appear, we use Domestos on them and they disappear, and don't re-appear in that location for a long time.
