Fredbargate

A conference organised by the Spanish Group for the Recovery of Gibraltar was met by protests, mainly from Spanish Workers in Gibraltar and La Linea businessmen. The invited guests were right wing journalist, Jose Maria Carrascal and naval Captain Angel Liberal. The conference took place, metres from the frontier, in a hotel in La Linea. Police intervention was required to stop the protesters entering the building. The addresses, which were critical of Gibraltar, were constantly interrupted by members of the audience, who accused the men of not knowing what they were talking about and who advocated good relations with the Rock.

which goes to show the reduction in security clampdown on equipment like SOSUS. I can remember being threatened with all sorts of gloom and despondancy for my future for being aware of its existance and useage.
But then they said the same things about cryptography whilst some of them knew about the thievery of John Walker who was selling it by the sackload to the Russians but still wanted to ensure I didn't talke about it.
