Of all the places in all the world.......
Why Spain?
We were originally planning to move to Spain in the summer but have since decided to maybe put it off for a year or two, although I am now not entirely too sure as to where in the world to go!
Whilst thinking where on earth I would want to live, I was curious as to why the people on this board who live in Spain ended up there? Did you move for work, weather, family or you just enjoyed visiting Spain? Why Spain exactly? (weather doesn't really count, there are so many places with preferable weather).
Just been nosy really

The man I wanted to spend my life with was here. He died and I am staying. I had never been to Spain before for any reason. If I was looking to move again it would be within Spain.

It used to be a great place to live before they joined the EU.

It used to be a nice place Convenient for anywhere in Europe, cheap houses and I already spoke the language. Would have been daft to have gone to Portugal or Italy if I didn't understand the locals.

It was nearly Greece but we were more concerned about our kids with the language & school - the different alphabet rather than just speaking it
my OH had lived on Corfu when he was younger & it was a definite contender
Spain won simply because of the language issues, though in retrospect the kids were probably still young enough for it not to have caused too many problems
where to next?
if we moved again it would probably be within Spain - though we are making plans to travel a lot once the youngest finishes Bachi (if she decides to do it), so at least four more years here for sure

We wanted to retire early and move abroad. The factors we considered were:-
Climate
Property Costs
Cost of Living
Infrastructure (health service, public transport, leisure facilities etc)
Availability and cost of flights back to UK and other destinations
Ability to learn the local language
We were seriously considering Portugal or Spain, but Spain scored better on climate, infrastructure and language (Portugese is much more difficult to learn IMO), so Spain it was. We had holidayed many times in the Axarquia region of Andalucia so that is where we chose to buy, and haven't regretted it, although the cost of living has certainly increased mainly due to the fall in the value of sterling.

We just sort of ended up here. We didn't plan to - when we left England we didn't have a clue where we were going.

Whatever lifestyle, environment and climate you want, you can find in Spain.
It's very handy and ticks most boxes.
