Totally out of the blue though, a stunning cafe bar has really taken our eye. Its got so much space and cope, but its in a TOTALLY different area to benalmadena/arroyo that we are looking at.

Its beach front in Algarrobo Costa. We have google earthed this place, adnd think it looks in a lovely area.

I thought i would ask all of the informed people on here their views on the area. I know you will all be forthcoming with your good and bad points.

Lets hear it xxxxxxx:thumbup:

Hi Lyndsey. Welcome to the area!

Don't know if you are aware that there is a fun day at El Ancla (on the coast road at Torrox Costa) on Friday, 2.00 - 10.00 pm? Its aiming to raise funds for the hospital at Velez and looks like being a good afternoon out. There will be music, food and a variety of stalls etc.

I'll be doing a "Find the wine" game, a car boot stall and will have dyslexia information on display. If you can make it down, say "Hello," it will be nice to meet you.

Hi,

I'm English so can't help much with your Spanish I'm afraid. There is a Lux Mundi centre at Torre del Mar where you can take Spanish classes twice a week, very cheaply. The teachers are great and they have coffee mornings on a Friday. Its a good place to start meeting people.

I went for a while but now I have a Spanish teacher who comes to the house, who I can highly recommend if you wanted any home tuition.

I live in Mezquitilla, just along the road from you.

As for age, I'm a wee bit older than I'd like to be! I don't quite know how I managed it because I'm sure I was only sixteen not long ago!

Workwise, I do supply teaching at an International school, so sometimes I'm working and sometimes I'm free for lunch! I'm also hoping to start teaching students with dyslexia, from home, so I can be free for lunch more often!

You may have guessed, one of my interests is ...going out for lunch!

Hope to see you on Friday and we can have a natter. I need to know about you now!

I think your both mad if you just go and buy a bar, IMO you need to have a good 6 months looking at potential bars and seeing how busy the places get at different times and days of the week. I spoke to a landlord in Fuengirola last week and he has been going a year and not too badly either, but a year ago 9 other bars he knows of opened all on the front and only him and another are still going. IMO you need a locals bar in between all the apartments in the places your looking at. If your surrounded by blocks where people live you will be busy.

Just a though as the tourist trade seems to be dead around these parts.
