Airport Trips
Is there is a reliable private hire company operating airport runs from Chiclana to Jerez, Seville and Malaga. Please advise cost of one way and return trips.

Hi Geegee girl. Are you full insured for these trips, and I don't mean just normal car insurance. If anything goes wrong you may be in a load of trouble. Just concerned that's all.

Re: Airport Trips
Thanks for your concern. I know there are lots of so called airport collection services out there of which most are under insured or not declaring work but my husband wants to be legal as is getting the relevant documentation and insurance ready. We wish to offer tailor made holidays and wish to do so without upsetting any of the local taxi services.

Re: Airport Trips
We came to this country to live as the locals and to get away from England where there is one for for the English and another for anyone else. that means learning the language, becoming resiident etc. Only then will you gain respect from the local Spanish community.

JJ basically a Taxi insurance policy, which I don't think you would be able to get in Spain as the Taxi business is a closed shop so to speak, |
Re: Airport Trips
It is impossible for any person to 'transfer' you from A to B (e.g. airport to Chiclana) unless they have the relevant licence i.e. taxi or coach company. If you employ a 'private service' be aware that you, your family and your luggage etc. are not insured. The laws here are really tough - you either have to have a taxi licence or a coach company (with something like 90 person carrying capability) in order to be legal. many people have tried to set up this service here and have been completely stymied by the law.

Re: Airport Trips
There have been several unpleasant incidents near Málaga airport where airport taxi drivers have stopped and threatened people whilst being transported in unlicensed vehicles and at least one serious physical assault.
Even licensed taxi drivers who are dropping off from other areas are not allowed to take a return fare to where they are based. |

Re: Airport Trips
I wouldnot be deterred Geegee and carry on trying to become legal. I am sure you could do well. We would like to offer elderly family a lengthy stay while we are not in Spain, but as the only driver is 82, he would not wish to drive in Spain. They would manage very well if they could get around. A legal English speaking, not necessarily English taxi service would do the trick.

Re: Airport Trips
Thank you for being positive and for your support. I know all the perils of not being licenced or insured and we are doing our best to get this sorted even if is not easy. However the Junta de Andalucia seem very supportive and I am very positive that soon we will have our small B&B up and running and will be able to offer a personalised service to those that require it. All we are trying to do is to make an honest living here in Spain like every other Brit who is not retired.
