After My Unemplyment Benefit Runs Out
Hello,
I have a question, my Spanish unemployment benefit runs out in February. My question is will I still be able to stay in the Spanish Health Service, I have heard all sorts of rumours and would be grateful to learn the truth. i am under pensionable age my husband receives a UK pension we have lived here 8 years. Thanks

If your husband is a UK state pensioner then you should both be able to get full cover if you apply to the DWP in the UK for a S1 form.

It's a good question though. If you are an EU resident in Spain and you stop paying the social security due to unemployment, does that mean your healthcare will cease, even though you have paid SS for many years?

I'm in a similar position as mine has just come to an end. I'm wondering if I will continue to get pension credits. Does anyone know?
I've been told to carry on signing on, but I'm wondering if this is just to keep me as a statistic or if there is any actual benefit to me. If there is no benefit, such as in terms of pension credits, then I'd rather not bother.

Sorry, I didn't really intend to hijack the thread, but hopefully any answers will also be of interest to the OP.

BE is a very large expat website, so if you have problems finding your way around we have concierges who will try to direct you. The moderators for the Spanish forums are Mitzyboy and Fred James, moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderador who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the issues of living in Spain. At the top of the page you will find a quirkily named thread called Free Beer which is full of important and useful information. Hope you enjoy your time participating in the forums.

They changed the law recently so when your paro runs out you can still get health care. The only group not covered are illegal immigrants.
Desde el 1 de enero de 2012 se ha modificado la Ley General de Salud Pública, incluyendo a los parados que hayan agotado su prestación el derecho a la Sanidad gratuita.
