Unhappy Advise please- New Car and 2000euro discount

I purchased a new car last Nov 09 and got the 2000euro trade-in. Today I received a phone call from the supplier to say that I am not intitled to the 2000euro because I am not a resident.
Does any one know if this is correct, I have an NIE and have purchased many things including my house, I pay my contributions to the local town hall and all that sort of thing. I have asked the locals but they are as baffled as me.

Why should they be baffled. If you live here then you have to sign on the register of foreigners within 90 days. Its a requirement in Spain now. Theres a number of things you need your residency for.

Why not ask a Gestor, would think they will be able to tell you, more than likely wont charge you either for the information

Some garages are .... less than helpful. I would suggest you try a.n.other dealer.

If you've already got the 2000 euro trade-in, what's the problem?

Like Mitzy says though, you should be tax resident and habitually resident by now so again, what's the issue?
