Hi
All the satelite guys are pushing IPTV over any satelite system. In my area west CDS there seem to be two systems on offer. The second being one that uses (apparently) very little download to provide tv, and it even works with the tooway system. It appears these systems are lucrative as thats the big show in town.
has anyone bought a system like this and is happy with it?
does it now affect your download limit, ie you need unlimited download capacity?
regards
Al

So filmon works through Tooway but will probably use loads of download.
IPTV might work with Tooway (I don't see why it shouldn't) and, if it does, it will allegedly use less download although I've yet to see any figures. TBH nobody in the world of IPTV seems to know what they are doing really.
So while they struggled to get the second match back on I went off to the bar to watch it on Spanish telly with Spanish commentary - not a problem at all.
Good result too

Just been on to Skyinmadrid news site and there is a chance to get ITV regions back. I suggest you look at this rather than me typing it all out.

I see that it's possible to get BBC programs from BBC Entertainment channel by aiming your dish at the Eurobird 9 satellite at 9degrees east. Looks like an option if all you want is to hear English on the telly, most of the content is older stuff - no live stuff.
Apparently this will replace the satellite version of iPlayer when it is withdrawn soon. Internet iPlayer will revert to BBC. com.
See links from Skyinmadrid for more info.

Re: advice please re UK tv in Spain
hi there I have read through most of these posts but have not understood most of it I'm afraid. We used to get Free to Air UKTV in our Torremolinos apartment through a humax box an old CRT TV and the community aerial (mainly Spanish apartment block) The box and TV were both a bit temperamental and then we lost channels like everyone else. We have now bought a Samsung Smart TV and can't work out which way to proceed.
We have no internet connection so will have to sort this out. Our neighbour who does have internet already has paid 180 euros for a box (don't know details) and installation (just connecting a couple of cables from router to box and box to TV from what I gather) and is paying 34 euros for full sky package including films and sport. This also includes ongoing support from a guy they have used before and trust.
We do not live in Spain but want UK TV for our paying guests and ourselves when we go on holiday but wouldn't want full Sky package. Please can anyone tell me whether they think the above is a good price for what was provided (they already pay extra for internet) and whether there are other alternatives for us as we are starting from scratch. a massive dish is a no go as we have nowhere to put it and I have read IPTV Spain on Facebook as recommended in various places plus every forum I can find and still don't know what to do but we need to move sharpish as we advertise English TV channels. Would appreciate any advice for someone who wants something reliable and that we don't have to fiddle with a phone or computer connection. thanks for any help

AS others will tell you you cannot officially have a SKY connection outside of the UK.
As SKY may be issuing new cards this year to limit abuse it may not be the right time to sign up for anything. 34 euros certainly would give you nothing like the package from SKY your neighbour suggests.
Better if you can get a decent internet connection to go for one of the boxes and just settle for the non SKY channels which will still give you BBC , ITV etc.
We have paid for a PAYG VPN to try out TV via the internet and using a Tesco Hudl connected to the TV. have a perfectly good " live " BBC connection.

I don't know how they do this, but clearly it involves some sort of piracy but they do exist.

If you can get C5 on 105, then you should be able to get some ITV (maybe ITV1HD) regions also - as they are on the same satellite and beam.
No C5, the no ITVs.
But yes some frequencies are being a tad better than others - which will be why you may get some BBC1 regions and not others

It has a lot of "back catalogue" stuff.
BBC Ent will not be replacing Iplayer!
The BBC Global Iplayer is being with drawn.
But is content be incorporated into BBC.com.

You have just given the reason why SKY will be clamping down " piracy ".

However with the UK TV apps such iPlayer, itv, Ch4 od and Ch5 they are easier to acces straight off the remote. However you cannot watch live TV on them only the catch up programming. You can watch live by entering in the Smart Hub webbrowser say bbc.co.uk/player then you will have the website up with choice of live or not but either way only if you have a vpn configured modem attached to the set.
Personally when people booked I would say it is a force majeure and not available.
