Advice for the non-technical. Gas/Electric stove.
We have a small holiday house in Murcia inherited from my late mother in law. It is approx 40 years old and some of the major appliances are now well past the 'sell by date. Principal of these is the cooker. It is a LPG stove with 4 burners and an oven. The gas bottle is housed within a compartment in the stove. The LPG also powers a 'Geyser" style water heater.
The oven on the stove does not have any sort of regulo or thermostat so we tend not to use it when we visit. We are thinking in the future that we may use the house for more than the odd( 3/4 times a year) week stay and so would like to have a more servicable stove. There are many second hand ones available in the UK which we would be prepared to bring out by large 4x4 plus other items. The main point is that if the we transport an electric stove would we need to have extra wiring installed in the house. From recollection I dont remember any of the fuses on the house board being 30 amp. Also if we took a gas stove do manufactures supply conversion kits for natural gas to LPG( I know check with manufacturers). Being non technical I am sure there are other obstacles that you will come up with. Its just that our quick look when we last in Spain at Worten and Continente did not reveal any suitable stove. You really ought to have the installation inspected. Better safe than sorry :eek:

We imported a non-integrated stove purchased in the UK. It had two ovens but only one was ever used at a time. We found that to run oven and also have the option of a/c, water heater etc availability without popping the potencia breaker we were paying a lot each month in standing charges. We got rid of the stove and bought a local product which allowed us to reduce the monthly potentia cost.
Never been a great fan of LPG appliances so induction hobs / electric oven gives me peace of mind. |
