Stay on topic now you lot........
Use Easypet out of the free beer thread, I can vouch for them. Why does no one read that thread before they ask questions on here ? |

You could let the train take the strain, but I'm not sure if you can take a pet. Worth while checking.

I hope your move is not as stressful for you as I fear it will be for your pussycat. I hope you have looked into the regulations for importing into UK.
Good luck with the rental. Not something I would do :fingerscrossed: |
Re: Advice for moving pet back to UK - moving back!
If your pet passport is up to date then you will be ok, you will have to see the vet to do your frontline etc and sign the passport, make sure you check the times for the vet doing the passport and the entering the UK as theyare very strict about it, then you could use the tunnel or ferry, I prefer the tunnelas its quicker, sorry to hear things are brilliant at the moment, good luck with your future :)
You could look at the defra.co.uk website for all up to datr details. |
Re: Advice for moving pet back to UK - moving back!
Thanks again for all the "sensible" suggestions, I'm looking into the Eurotunnel as it seems a better option, my cat has always had her pet passport kept up to date and I hate to think how much I've paid over the years for her rabies jabs, ridiculous as she's a house cat and has never set foot outside! When I spoke to DEFRA a few months ago to check on a couple of things and was told how strict the process is for taking in an animal I replied that it's a shame that things were not the same for all the illegal immigrants that get into the country with their various diseases - she said she couldn't comment but totally understood!

Re: Advice for moving pet back to UK - moving back!
Eurotunnel is the way to go. You can keep your pet by your side and look after her during the journey. I think your cat will find it harder than you to re-adjust to her new surroundings.
I don't have an easy answer for your flat selling problem. I am sure you are aware of the problems assosciated with property renting. In my experience these are compounded when you live in another country. It may be hard but it seems you have decided you no longer want to live in spain and I would reduce my price and cut the tie. |

Thanks for the comments but you mention that renting out your property is not something you would do, assuming I have a choice. I am not sure what people are meant to do who cannot sell up in these depressing times but if I wait here and continue to use all my savings and never work again, I will never get back to the UK so renting my flat is the only option. What do other people do? It's this or stay here and die! I'll be starting another thread about all the issues or renting and selling soon! You have to realise that a lot of folk would have died to be in your position - several years living in Barcelona, making unearned money on house value rise, and being able to work most of that time. Please stop whinge-ing. You may not have made as much money as others (join the club), and you may have spent energy on refurbishing your flat (who hasn't? Even people who rent often have to spend time/money on their property). But you've had a far better ride than a lot of people I know, both in Spain and in the UK. I'm sorry you feel it was wasted time, but you seemingly have the means to move back to your beloved London. Concentrate on making the move work instead of harping negatively about Barcelona - I'm not a fan of the Ciudad Condal, but it's a dream location apparently for many Brits. Blaming the place for your lack of being a millionaire will only reflect on you. |

I think your reply is a little harsh, how does one start again in the UK, if they sell there property for what they paid for it some years back, when prices in the UK have also risen, taking a loss is one thing. Also I don't think the poster was moaning, just saying how the situation is for them, as you know, one mans meat is another mans posion, maybe what is a dream to you is not to them ! |

I understand that, but the poster has complained previously about this issue stating they didn't want to sell their flat as they'd be paying CGT. Now that is another issue (and I can understand why people oppose it), but it does seem that Pain-in-Spain complains a bit too much. The real people who have suffered have not been in work for some time, do not have money from house increases to pay cgt on, and have no prospect of buying a cheap house in Bradford (or Extremadura) still less a place in London or Barcelona.
I intended to go onto the topic of selling and renting and the various pitfalls on another thread, but I am not sure if I can be bothered to risk all the backlash of certain types on this forum, it really says an awful lot about people. |
Re: Advice for moving pet back to UK - moving back!
One thing I've noticed on this forum is that any kind of slight negativity against the lovely cuddly Spanish and their perfect sunny tapas eating fiesta all day lifestyle is totally unacceptable!
Yes I think it's part of the forum T&C's:rofl: Please let us know how you get on, some will be interested. Renting your place out can be a nightmare too. Someone who I know wanted to go back after her Husband died and couldn't sell. After 2 years she rented out her spanish home and used the proceeds to rent in the UK. The tenants (who seemed very nice) only paid for 3 months and 8 months later they are still there! She is now struggling and having to pay legal fees to evict them. Would have thought you may have a better chance of selling in Barcelona than the CDS...good luck. |
