Advice for moving to costa blanca region please
 

Hello, Myself and wife are considering relocating to the costa blanca region. We are a young couple under 30 so are looking for an area quite lively for night life ie restaurants and bars within reach but would like a good mix of the traditional Spanish life. Something not too touristy but close enough to good amenities etc. My wife's family have an apartment in San Javier murcia, but we feel its too quiet for us full time and the closest area for nightlife is Los Narejos but again this is seasonal so would want the option of all year round which is close enough to get to. Any advice would be much appreciated.

If you are looking for all year round nightlife you are limited to the larger towns. You might consider Alicante, Torrevieja, Denia, or Benidorm. If you are happy to venture from the coast Murcia, Orihuela, Elche.

Perhaps the most important thing to consider, given your ages is where you will be able to find work.

Thanks guys, work won't be an issue for me as I am a contractor overseas and will be basing myself in Spain.

We don't want anything as crazy as benidorm lol. Something that's in local that's within driving distance of bars and restaurants. Nothing like alicante or benidorm. We just don't want an area that hasn't got much going on seasonal wise.

Los Narejos is the closest place to my in law's place for being more lively during the summer that's why we have been there a few times.

IMO you seem to contradict yourself - you don't want a seasonal place but you don't want an all year round place (ie Alicante) either. Also is driving to bars a good idea? Most beach resort places are seasonal with the exception of Torrevieja because it has +/- 100,000 permanent residents. Maybe you should take other things into account ie shops, theatre, cinema health facilities etc apart from bars and restaurants because they are in fact everywhere and when you live here they are a different priority to being on holiday. Hope you find and enjoy what you are looking for.

Maybe consider the other Costas, or just stay closer to the bigger cities. Anywhere near Valencia, Barcelona etc. would offer what you are looking for.

Benidorm also has the quieter areas, there is much more to Benidorm than English square and Calle Gerona :blink:

We ended up at Urb La Marina, it is lots of foreigners but not all English. Spanish villages all around and we are close to the beach. I feel somedays it is too non-Spanish but we travel around and enjoy meeting locals when we can. It's always a compromise but it's nice to choose a Spanish bar or a German one or even a British one!

Try Campasol, Murcia. They have 24/7 bingo, karaoke, pigeon club, whippet racing, loads of restaurants , many night clubs, every possible takeaway. :thumbup:

Yes, quite a few times and have generally enjoyed myself but then it is a big place. Parts of the Levante beach area, like many tourist areas the world over, can be a bit of a challenge with the usual scam artists and thieves. As I say a big place and something there for everyone. That is why it remains popular.

Other places on the Costa Blanca can be far more laid back.

The video depicted people having a great time and supporting their side, more power to them.
