advice on a hostel
 

I am in the process of buying a small hostel on the Costa Del Sol, and would appreciate it if anyone can give me details on any english speaking electricians for a rewire.
Also, any personal experience of the municipal rates etc, would be helpful too.

Before you purchase you should find out several things. Here are a few suggestions based upon our purchase of a Casa Rural.

• See if you need to obtain any license from any governing body. We contacted the Xunta de Galicia, but in your area these sorts of things are controlled at different levels either Junta or concello.
• If serving food you will need a ‘Certificado de Manipulardors de Alimentos’. You should ask at the office where the hostel is registered fro more information as to when and where courses are being run.
• There are legal matters like is the building as per paperwork or has it been changed then have those alterations be done legally.
• The rates should be in any paperwork that comes with the business. We know that you can purchase a business without accounts but we feel this may not be wise. If not ask you solicitor to contact the concello for details.
• You should get hold of a good Gestoria to either set up a business for you and help with some of the things listed here.

Maybe you should employ a Spanish electrician, as it will help to improve your Spanish, which you will need for the paperwork associated with running a business in Spain. Hope this information is of some use.
