Having driven from Malaga to Porto maybe 6 times in the last 4 years, I would have to disagree with that - The people that I spoke to spoke very little English, evening in the big shopping centres. The people on the coast, Lisbon ? in the south, perhaps speak more of our language? I know that my Girlfriend speaks fluent english (shes part portugese) and the guy that used to work for me spoke better english than I do
but actually IN portugal? none of her family can speak more than a few words, and they have worked in Porto all their lives. They are surrounded by tourists all day long.
