Advice on Alicante/Murcia/Almeria
Hi, I shall be travelling shortly to Spain to buy property but as I am located in Canada its not that easy to visit as from the UK. I am wanting to buy in one of these areas but inland as I get more value for my money, but local bars and a few expats to socialize with is ideal. I don't need the hussle and bussle but don't want it too quiet either. I have areas in mind but as I say its not just a quick pop over from Canada. Any areas to consider or information for my visit would be much appreciated as I don't want to drive around blind.. I,m looking around 130K Euro.
Thanks Mark

There are so many locations which would meet your specified requirements. Most ex pats live nearer the coast and those who choose to live inland are likely to integrate with local community rather than spend time socialising with other English speaking ex pats in the local bar.

That's such a big area to search and while you might get more for your money inland, there are a lot of other things to consider. All you can really do is filter by price online and see what you can get for your money in different areas, but driving around will be the only option to really see for yourself (apart from Google Maps). And why did you pick these regions? If you could find a nicer place in Valencia closer to the coast, would you still only consider these 3 regions?

Be aware that inland can get very cold, so it really depends and being further south doesn't necessarily always mean much more sunshine. Some places can be super dry and hot in summer (too dry) and then might be even wetter in winter. For example compare Valencia Center with Gibraltar and you'll find that both have similar hours of sunshine over the whole year, but Valencia sees fewer days of rain, although Gibraltar is generally drier than Valencia during the summer months and sees little rain or hardly any. Even where we bought land above Barcelona, you still see around 2500 sunshine hours a year. Of course that might not be enough for some who want the 3000 hours Almeria might get and it can be 4 degrees cooler further up, but there are only so many sunburns a body can take:-) and of course other things to consider. Any place with a med climate will be OK for someone coming from Canada and sometimes you might be pleasantly surprised. I certainly wouldn't rule out Valencia region.
