Adra - about an hour from Almeria
Can anyone tell me what it is like to actually live in Adra?
We stayed about 10 miles away last summer so didn't go into Adra much as it was very hot and meant driving all the time. We will be going there in about 3weeks time for a 2 week holiday and actually staying in the town of Adra itself. Can anyone recommend where to eat, what to see, etc?

Adra is quite a nice little town in Almeria PROVINCE about an hour away from Almeria CITY - it appears to have plenty of bars and restaurants etc.
However I personally don't like this part of Almeria as it is covered in horrible ugly invernerados - great big horrible plastic greenhouses which stretch for miles and miles. You will get a nice little town like Adra completely surrounded by them.
I personally would not want to live anywhere on this stretch of coast.

It is well under an hour from the airport, I can do Albunol to Almeria airport in an hour and it takes me 20mins to get to Adra.
Since last year a lot of work has been going on in the town, the sea front has been improved tremendously, with a large amount of palm trees and the middle of town near the harbour has also been improved, if you like chinese food there are two good chinese restaurants very close to Mercadona, but it is not really where many people choose to stay as it really is a fishing town, we keep our small boat in the marina there.
It is on the very west of Almeria province.

Hi PWWM - haven't heard from you for ages. Hope all is well with you and other half. We will be in Adra for 2 weeks from 23 June. Finally put house on market and hoping to get out there as soon as we are sold.
Hoping to rent long term at first unless the right property comes along.
We have tried one of the chinese restaurants. It was good. Need to find cheap Spanish bars with good tapas this time. We are staying in the town so will not have to drive everywhere
