5 out 33 to go.....

Is anyone watching Sky news live, the rescue of the trapped miners.

I am surprised to see the good state that they appear to be in, considering their ordeal.

All is running smoothly so far, lets hope in stays that way.

What a great feat that the rescuers have done,
Congratulations to all concerned.

I am so thankful that 7 of the miners have now been rescued, please let all of them get to the surface safe and well. My father, 2 uncles and my grandfather were all miners and I really feel for the men and their families in their long ordeal.

Par for the course, with the politicians milking it for all it's worth.
Even the Bolivian pres. is in on the act, trying to make himself a national hero by escorting the one Bolivian miner back to his home country.

Anyway, all's well that ends well, and touch wood it's still going ok with about a dozen out up to now.

I never watch TV in the morning but I did put it on today while I was getting ready, for long enough to see the 3rd one out. We've had it on streaming in the corner of the classroom for most of the day (we've been practising subtractions from 33 ;) )

They're going much faster now and it should be over by the time I get up tomorrow.

"Chilean miners haven't seen sunlight in over 70 days" - Big deal...

They should try experiencing a British summer.

20 now.

Nice to see and hear some heart warming news for a change, instead of all that daily wail tripe.

Though I see there are some conflicts of personal relationships coming to light, with disputes between wives and girl friends squabbling with each other and trying to get to get a piece of the action.
I imagine the gutter press will turn it into a soap opera once they are all out.

Oh dear, I see it's already started.

I do love the irony.

It's Margaret Thatcher's birthday today, and the whole world is focused on a mine.

Though our local miners used to have a rough time of it, I always used to spare a thought for the little pit ponies,(cuddies),which had a pretty hard life down under.
Some of them never saw daylight until they were retired out to grass, if they survived that long.
Other lucky ones used to get 2 weeks holiday a year in July, same time as the miners.
However they still didnt get to see much sunlight, as they had to be kept blinkered due to the change of light above ground.
