1 month road trip help

Hi guys

we are coming over for a month in dec/ jan and are wanting an area that accepts dogs on the beach. We would also like an area where there will be a few bars , but not a city. We are open to moving to different places, say a week here a week there, or stay in one area. Can anyone help please.

Hello and welcome. Sounds like a nice long break you have in mind.

Spain has a lot of coastline so maybe you should narrow down the area a bit. I don't know about dogs but everywhere has cafés, no matter how few people are around.

Hi lagoo
we really aren’t bothered. We are looking for some sunshine, nothing too elaborate 😃, just a warm fuzzy feeling. And a dog friendly place with a few bars. I would imagine some towns and villages shut over winter and wanted to avoid this.

They list the beaches here: https://www.mastorrencito.com/en/202...mastorrencito/
Obviously winter will be very quiet in parts and you never know with weather either. La Rubina Beach is very popular for people with dogs and Roses would be the next town but can be very windy in winter and Empuria dead. Weather usually gets better once you pass Begur as you are not hit by the tramuntana.

For the winter sun, I suggest Costa Blanca or Costa del Sol, where there is better chance of sunny weather, there are people around right through the winter months as they have sizeable resident population, and normally, Covid permitting, there are snowbirds from UK and Northern Europe. Where I live in Nerja, normally bars and cafes stay open, with only a few closing down completely for winter and some having occasional closures such as after the Three Kings (Epiphany). As for dog beaches, most larger municipalities have a stretch of beach where dogs are permitted (usually away from the busy areas). They are clearly signposted (playa para perros). Usually stricter rules in summer. There is a national list, though can't vouch for completeness: Playas para Perros OFICIALES 2021. Hi, we have travelled for the last 3 winters with dogs and we stay in or around Oliva on the Costa Blanca. We have stayed in 3 distinct areas of Oliva: old town ( not recommended for dogs as tricky to find a walk and lots of mad dogs wandering the streets ), playa ( ideal as bars / cafes and a massive beach where dogs are allowed ) , Oliva Nova ( an urbanisation a few miles out of town but very close to the beach, a few cafes, hotel and golf club serving food and drinks ).

We love the area and it is close to Denia , Gandia, Valencia ( 45 minutes away ) so plenty to do with or without the dogs.
