Moving to Cape Town - become a Lawyer?
 

Hello All,

I am hoping to move to Cape Town in November (ish) but basically know jack about doing so! can anyone advise me on the SA equivalent of law school courses? how do you go about becoming an attorney, and will my UK degree be recognised? Also any visa/ residence order info would be great x Thank You x

Well admittedly i have only been there on holiday once, but my fiance lived there for 10 years, he lived in Jo'burg, and said that he would not go back there. All the stories you hear are about things that happened in Jo'Burg, Capetown is a 15 hour drive away and is very different! (i hope) plus cape town is beautiful and the people are nice and its a really active place to live with sports all around you.

Believe me if you said i'm off to.... Oz, Nz, Canada, Europe, I would say Lucky you.... but not Africa.... not anymore...I would not want to close my front door and worry at every little noise outside.
:scared: ........... one of my dreams was to go on a safari to Africa and travel to see the Resort where Elsa the Lioness was filmed.

Jeannie, you are very wrong! My father lives there and I have just come back from a quick holiday there. I was also there just 1 year ago and the difference in just that year is incredible. There is a real buzz in Africa with a sense of excitement that you do not get anywhere else in the world. It has an amazing mix of 1st world country with 3rd world areas.

The place is incredibly active and very focused on removing the crime from Jo'Burg, Durban and Cape Town. Just like every big city in the world, there are trouble areas and you need to know where to stay away from, but the locals will definitely advise you of that.
