documents/paperwork
Hi Everyone
I have been living in South Africa since I was 2 years old but I was born in England. I do hold a current British passport and I am planning to move back to England and work there.
I also do have a British qualification which was obtained there last year. My question is what documents/paperwork do I need to do here is South Africa in order to leave (SARS etc). I will not be selling my house or taking and furniture with me as my children will still be staying here in South Africa (both grown up an independent). I will be staying with family and looking for a job as soon as possible or I am hoping to find work from this side before I leave.
Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: documents/paperwork
I left years ago so not sure if this is helpful. Firstly make sure you are SA citizen and your SA passport is well up to date as you have to leave and return on this passport when coming back for visit. When I left I also got a tax clearance from Receiver of Revenue. Apart from that, I think you can just leave. This is a very quiet forum with hardly anyone visiting but perhaps someone will come along and give you more information.

Yup, a tax clearance certificate is essential - and let SARS know you will be out of the country. Also make sure any bank accounts are closed as it will be hard to sort out any fraudulent activity from overseas. It's worth keeping something open - in case you decide to return. Some stuff going to an SA address, for example.
We didn't do anything else - got the certificate, and got out of dodge. Good luck.
