There has been political brouhaha in Slovenia for the past few days - something tells me you can walk down the streets of Ljubljana or Celje and not notice, however.

Very interesting....but it seems to be water off a ducks back. Politics in Slo
seems to be in permanent crisis and the population just shrug.
If 2 mill cannot agree and sort things out its no wonder we can't with over 60 million.
Anyway where is the Slo jail?? Assume only one, perhaps mixed to keep everyone happy? I thought they had turned it into a boutique hostel as nobody committed any crime.
Nice to hear from you Harry , M

The population doesn't just shrug, they are really frustrated about it. But nothing can be done, since it doesn't seem to matter who comes to power, its always the same. And the worst part isn't bickering between political parties, its corruption and stealing. But no one is willing to do anything about it since it looks like everybody is a part of it.
With country so beautiful and with such abundance of water and land (and there are only 2 mio of us) it really big shame that anyone is hungry and left with nothing. But that is how things are...

So, it seems PM Bratusek is stepping down.

I actually thought she was trying to do here best in what was an awfully difficult situation, what with the fractiousness of the coalition parties - of course, that could have been just good PR.

Yes but they got through. What a surprise, twice in 10 years they have got this far. Will help make them all proud and forget politics until the voting nonsense.

I sometimes think Slovenians are unfit for democracy.

Is this a Balkan or Russian 'thing'/influence.
They are of course next to Italy, that beacon of democracy or hotbed (God bless Belo..) of political intrigue .
Daniel you could expand why you think they are unfit.

Today brings back memories of an ex OurSlovenia 'chum'...
Big Mac who was a Scot through and through but with a passion for Slovenia.
Mac I know you are still about, probably on another site but I have sympathy
with you today. You have wanted a yes for years and today will be one that probably meets the thread headline for you.
Me, I wanted to see an English parliament without 41 Scottish labour MPs or others telling us what to do as does this stupid eu experiment. Salmond though passionate didn't seem to have the answers to the big questions. Think he could have pulled it off if he had.
Together in the madhouse for another generation but hope you are OK.
