Schooling for my girls

Any advice on schooling for girls in Singapore?

Aged 8 and 4

Both high functioning autistic, but in current private highly academic schools and performing in the medium band.

Both highly socialable due to early intervention (from age 3).

Just to say :welcome: from Malaysia. I think there's a few other threads about schooling in this sub-forum. You may want to have a browse through and tag on to one existing one (especially if you don't get any response to this thread).

It appears you can skip the waiting lists if you pay, but the example I was provided it just brings you further up the waiting list - from 2 years to a few months - $165k:(

Hi RedDragon - are you looking for a mainstream school with special needs support (if required)?

Do you have a preferred list of schools? I get the impression from a couple of people I've known that some of the international schools are not as good with special needs support as you'd expect them to be. But I'm sure some are great. Not sure from your message whether your girls really need special needs support though?

Not sure where you're coming from? Is your preference for a UK based curriculum, or US, or any other? I've said it so many times on this forum - don't get sucked into the "there is only one good school in Singapore" hype!!

Preference would be or a local school doing british curriculum. We require the use of an aide, but the hours required for this have dropped from an initial 20 hours down to 8 hours per week.

Not interested in school ties if that makes sense, but still willing and able to afford the best education they require. We did consider home schooling but the girls are such social butterflies, attending school provides the best holistic education.

Consider getting in touch with Dover Court Prep School in Dover Road. It has a "Supportive Education Dept" and supports pupils with autism:

Nope. Tanglin Trust and United World College (next door to Dover Court, in Dover Road). However, these schools do not cater (unless this has changed recently) for pupils with autism or Asperger's.
