Finding work in Sg

I have visited several times and would love to come and work there.

I have a good deal of experience in IT Software development (C# ASP.Net amongst other skills).

I have applied for Singapore-based roles on many occasions but failed to even get a reply from both employers and agencies.

I was even in Singapore on a visit recently and while there contacted agencies to let them know I was in town and still no joy.

How does one go about landing a role there?

Transfer from UK company to Singapore is the easiest.

As you can see from your non replies there is a glut of IT developers here.
You need a special niche or something.

I'm not in the IT sector, btw.

Good luck.

Hi PontyGirl,

I am a .net developer too and have been in SG for 6 years now.
I have found the places that are advertising for .net C# developers go through agencies as they are mainly the big banks.

<snip>

I have found that unless you are over here it is difficult to get anything unless you are transferred here.

I was here for a month on holiday before moving over 2 months later and got nothing in that month, when I moved over I was in work very quickly.

PM me if you want to ask more.

Yep. Due to the strong cultural ties between Singapore & South India especially, the default pool of developers is from there. Plus more and more offshoring of development/ testing work to India and/or Malaysia.

So you need to be cheaper/ better/ faster than that. Or, more likely, have specialised business domain/ tech domain skills that are in demand. Govt is pushing fintech at the moment, so that is your best bet
