Re: Clubs
I know a few people who are members of the American Club and the Dutch Club. Both are good but they are very very expensive and personally I don't think they're necessary to meet people - unless this sort of Club is your thing.
There are loads of ways to meet people here. I know I'm always banging on about it - but www.meetup.com is a great way to meet people and make new friends/take up a new hobby. There are loads of different groups on there. Or you could just post on here if you want to do something social.
There are also lots of groups (much cheaper than joining a club). For example - I'm a member of the Singapore St Andrew's Society. The British Association is a good one too and they have lots of events and socialising opportunities. ANZA is another one.
You'll also meet people through whichever school you decide on.
Not trying to put you off joining the Clubs - just wanted to let you know there are lots of alternative (and cheaper!) ways of meeting people.
