Terrorists bomb Alicante.
Not many of the 90,000 British and German expats who fled Spain in 2013 blamed terrorist attacks although there have been quite a few in recent years. They blamed corruption, tax, tax, the recession and earthquakes, but yesterday ETA bombed Alicante and Benidorm cities which injured eight people even after giving warnings, without evacuation there would have been deaths.
I saw the news yesterday and as a concerned resident expected to see the relevant news channels full of it today, but it appears to have been airbrushed from existence, Spain depends on tourism and doesn't want this kind of publicity. The places which have been bombed previously, like Alicante, Torrevieja and even tiny Santa Pola have ten times more Spanish holidaymakers than British ones, although British and German residents make up a quarter of the population - the latter are leaving at a fast rate of knots

You've got a slight chance against taxes and even an earthquake, but none against a bomb.

Could have been worse I suppose - a thread telling us to keep away from Gibraltar because there are shoot-to-kill operations going on there...oh wait..

So sorry, somebody sent me the link and I didn't check the date.
@Stevie: If a Spanish person in Madrid stuck a banger up your arse, you would still be singing the praises of the place.

Re: Terrorists bomb Alicante.
To the best of my knowledge the main culprits ETA renounced further bomb attacks and violence last year.
The Madrid atrocity was traced to Al Qaeda after ETA were wrongly accused in the first instance which had a big effect on the election result at that time.
Whether or not there are still major threats from other sources such as N.Africa, I know not, though revenge killings and vendettas seem to be the order of the day at present.
