Default Anyone packing?

I just thought I'd let ya all know that you can get cheap vacuum bags (for clothes storage) at Argos at the mo... they're normally quite pricey but we got some today for half price...
Vacuum storage bags
Don't know how long its on for though!
They shrink by up to 300% and reduce damp and mildew. We might buy some for putting in our cases to help reduce our volume. I know the weight will be the same, but at least there will be less to lug about!
Any other packing tips would be much appreciated!

Cheers Larissa. Think I'll pop down there on Wednesday. I'm not brave enough to face the Bank Holiday traffic twice in one day.

Excellent tip BTW. Although I think it may increase the weight in the bags as we'll have more space to take those things that we umm and arr over!!!!

a daft question... but how do you vacuum them? Do you simply connect them to your hoover or just suck really hard?

a great idea mind you. I think i might get some of those myself when my time comes.

I bought some today... you just fill them up (they're huge), then you zip them up, attach the vacuum cleaner to the valve, press and hey presto! They shrink before your eyes! You can reuse them too. Blim bought 3 lots (6 in total)... I got all the baby clothes and maternity clothes into 3 bags (I had most of my 6 year old daughter's clothes saved). I might buy some more as you can use them for curtains and duvets etc.
They're half price now too Scutter!!! (Plus I feel all goody goody organised coz I've done some packing already!)

My MIL got me some for my birthday (I always want useful pressies).
Great stuff!
Though ours don't zip up, it's a bit more complicated, but once I get them closed, it's easy, vaccum on there

I'm slowly starting to pack now (got 1.5 months to go, but pretty busy!).
I think I'll go out and by some more, because I haven't even got all the linnen in there yet!

Hiya larry,

thats a great tip and something i've been thinking about myself, but i have one small wonder about it -

what happens if you get to the other end ( or worse still - your stop destination i.e bangkok for 2 hrs berore you take off again to i.e sydney )

and the customs there decide to empty all your bags for a shufty -- HOW ON EARTH are we going to cram all that stuff which has been vacuum packed, back into our cases???!!!!!!!

I might use them for going to Greece though - not likely to get stopped & have loads of kids clothes to take. I'm hoping to get a flight soon!
