Default Asked for $100,000 investment - is it a done deal now?

Hi all experts here

If one is asked to invest the $100,000 in Aust bonds to score the bonus 5
points (after completed PCC and medical), does it mean that the chance of
success is very high? Will there still be an interview?

Thank you in anticipation.

Not 100% certain, but yes it's high. Just don't sell the house or quit
your job just yet!

Very unlikely.

Thanks Jeremy

But I may have to sell my property to raise the $100,000.
Sigh ...

If the 5 points will get you to the passmark (115 for independent, 110 for sponsored class), then if you are still asked for an interview I will shout you a beer if you ever get to Perth.

Things are looking very good, and DIMIA are not supposed to ask for medicals AND investment without having gone through any concerns about work experience, skills etc before that stage.

Cheers

You have done it again Jeremy, not sure why as I checked the forum 10 minutes after you are supposed to have replied to this person and there was no reply at this stage.

Haven't seen a delay in the past on posts going up for the public to see, maybe it is just slow tonight (perth time)

Cheers

Many people (in the UK at least) take out an additional mortage on their
property to fund the AUD100k. Then when the visa is granted they sell
the property and repay the finance. Clearly the finance has got to have
the option of early repayment without penalty, but it's normally ok with
DIMIA if you do this.

Also, when they do ask for the investment they will want it done in a
specific timescale. You don't want to have to turn a house into cash in
49 or so days - I'd start looking at financing options now if I were you.

As far as Don't Sell Your House goes ......

It has just taken us 7 months to get to contract exchange on our house, we put the house on the market last January, accepted an offer in June and only exchanged contracts last week. We complete at the end of the month. This is all with the same buyer! Maybe we have just been really unlucky, but I am glad that when our visas are issued we won't have to hang about waiting for the good old British house selling saga!

Our application was lodged late Feb/ Early March 2003 and we were notified that we have a case officer and were requested to submit new character checks on December 12th. (Character checks were front-loaded dated Nov 02; Meds were done unrequested and submitted Sept 03.)

We are now waiting for the bond request.

I'm not an expert but our Certificate of Inscription from Queensland Authority (proof our Bond money is there) on 19 December 2003 and found out today that we have our Visas.

Pretty quick given it's their summer hols etc.

We remortgaged in plenty of time for the money and had it waiting ready. It takes the pressure off a bit because they only give you 49 days to sort it all out and you know what paperwork's like!
