As previously mentioned in your other thread, steer clear of the downtown core. I would also suggest avoiding any road that ends in "North".

Personally, I would suggest anywhere on the Central or East Mountain as the bus network into the main City is very good and rental prices reasonable. Other than that, if you can afford it then the West end of Hamilton. Whilst Dundas, Ancaster and Burlington are nice the rental market is higher priced.

Best bet is to determine what kind of place you want to rent (house, high rise, low rise, duplex, townhouse or basement) and then look at www.padmapper.com for an idea of what is available and where (they have a 'walkability' tab and a street view tab), then look at the bus network map here: http://www.hamilton.ca/NR/rdonlyres/...RSystemMap.pdf to ascertain which buses go nearby.

Once you have narrowed down an area you think you might like, come back and ask what it's like.

Hard to really list entire neighbourhoods as good or bad.

I've noticed in Hamilton (probably similar to most cities) that in the space of a few streets you can go from suspect to rather nice.

Best idea is probably to take a drive around and see what you like.
