Default British Consul Website

I'm Trying to find the online form and info to register Baby Bubblechog but the consul websites have been taken down and replaced/merged with https://www.gov.uk/register-birth/re...a-birth-abroad which is not very helpful as it has bugger all to do with actually registering a birth in the USA.

Can anyone help a sleep deprived new mum find the forms she needs?

It looks like all the relevant information (on a lot of topics, not just this one) has been lost in the "transition". The new government portal is easily the worst in the developed world.

Call the British Embassy in Washington DC on 202 588 6500 and ask to be sent the forms. If they won't help, then call the Foreign Office, Nationality & Consular Registrations Division, on +44 20 7008 1500.

Maybe a consequence of a current global cyber attack?
Try again next week/month?

Not clear if this is supposed to be a serious comment or not. The British Government has decided to downgrade its online services. Unlikely to be different in a week's time. Or a month's.

It used to all be on the fco website but I see it redirects to some central site now. You can still look at the Google cached version though.

Aha, I think I've found the link:

https://www.gov.uk/register-a-birth/y/united-states

Bit like the tax office then - closing all their enquiry centres, presumably in a double whammy so that (a) more people mess up their taxes; (b) no more advisors to pay in said centres, and no rent to pay.

Yes, in year 1 I am liking the US tax system compared to the UK self assessment. Time for me to

BubbleChog,

I'm sorry you've experienced some difficulty with our website. As with all things new, we've experienced a couple of hiccups during the transition and, as JAJ points out, some information hasn't reappeared on the new site. We're working on it and we'll have it back soon.

The change of website is part of the government initiative to host all government information on a single website, www.GOV.UK. You can find out more about it here

The British Embassy and Consulate websites for the USA are now at www.gov.uk/world/usa (although I'm not sure why the "world" needs to be there, but I'm told there's a good reason for it!).

I hope this helps.

She has time as she has not given birth yet.

Thanks Dean. I've bookmarked the new link and BabyBubblechog was born on 10th March!
