Default Recommendations for Singapore Hotel

Looking to book 3 nights Stopover in Singapore in July for 2 Adults and 2 teens.

Has anyone got any good hotel recommendations?

The top 2 things to do on our list are Universal Studios and the Night Zoo.

I have been looking on Trip Advisor and Agoda but now they are all blurring into one.

Cheers

We stayed at the Grand Mercure Roxy hotel, and thought it was good!

We stayed at Le Grove Serviced Apartments which is at the end of Orchard Road and they have a shuttle bus to the MRT.

We picked them because there are 5 of us and booking 2 rooms in a hotel is more expensive,. I'm guessing you would need 2 rooms in a hotel too.

Universal studios was great, try to go on a non-school holiday and on a weekday otherwise the queues can be huge. We were lucky - we were picked to open the park and were handed a load of express passes which we didn't really need as it was so quiet.

Also, the rollercoasters close when it rains and it rains a lot in Singapore so just bear that in mind too.

We stayed at the New Majestic, it's a small boutique hotel (each room is decorated differently) and we loved it! It was cheap, two minutes from the tube station, the staff were amazing, room was comfy (best shower ever), breakfast was grand, nice pool and it was far enough away from the main drags not to feel like you were staying in the middle of the city (I hate high rise hotels) but we could be in the centre in 10 minutes.

When we went back on our last day to collect our luggage (long after we'd checked out) they let us use a (very swanky) room to shower and change before we went to the airport as we'd been out in the heat all day. Fresh towels, toiletries, the whole lot. Can't argue with that!

I'm interested in this as well as we are going over to the Singapore Grand Prix later this year (my Dad will be out visiting from the UK and we will all go to Singapore for the GP and he will then continue on home from there).

The name of the hotel we stayed at has slipped my mibnd, riverside something or other, will come to me.

Anyway, we had our 6 month old son with us at the time and this hotel just wasn't set up for babies, full of the corporate set. No smiling at our son or warm welcome.

We were shattered after a long flight from the UK and out son was pretty uncomfortable and needed a lay down in a dark room. We were told to go away and come back in 5 hours as the room which we were told would be ready wasn't!

Anyway we didn't go away, we stood there is the marble covered entrance area surrounded by corporate types with our son crying loudly and then he was sick all over the nice clean floor. This amazingly got us our room key straight away and they ushered us straight to the lift and deposited us in our room out of the way.

Nice hey, can be too clinical in Singapore at times, especially towards families.

The luggage collection and freshen up will be good for us too as we only fly out at 9.30pm
