Default Alabama or LA ??? So confused!

I have a dilemma...my husband has been offered a job in Alabama AND LA! The job in Alabama ( near the Gadsden area) has better prospects and wages... BUT I think I would prefer to live in LA (around the Asuza area), as there looks like there is more to do. I have a 16 year old daughter .... so am worried Alabama won't be enough for her! ANY advice on living in either area will be extremely welcome! Thanks...

I have relatives in Azusa - it's okay, not too expensive for the LA area, and a reasonable location in terms of getting around (airport, beaches, touristy stuff, or for getting out of LA completely!). It's an area we've considered but it depends on where the wife gets a job as we don't want to commute (much).

Cost of living is much higher in CA...plenty of threads on that one though, so worth a look.

As for Alabama, that has come up recently, so might be able to find it and some info.

I wouldn't have thought of Azusa as being close to them. I suppose you can cut across.

Ah ok. Well, in relative terms for the US, an hour is nothing!

I'd take Alabama any day of the week. More money and no doubt lower cost of living. Not to mention the Gulf Shores are pretty nice too. As for the 16 year old she'll be married and pregnant within a month so she'll have bigger things to worry about

Me too - the difference in cost of living will be HUGE. Housing costs in California are notoriously high, as is the price of petrol. Congestion and traffic are also a major issue that will impact your life in LA. That said, life in "the South" isn't to everyone's taste, it can take some getting used to, ...... but you could take up hunting deer, or feral pigs, or if you want to start with something smaller and safer, squirrels!

no no no, y'all don't understand. LA is 'Lower Alabama'. That's what we call the central timezone part of Florida.
