Default chances of finding a bar job in CA if i work for 'free'

So I know this will annoy some people. and to be honest I hate people that come to England and work illegally and people that don't work and sponge off the government, and my tax money.

But I want to live in CA for a while before I go to Canada and use my IEC visa.

I know that CA has a minimum wage so if i go to some privately run bars/restaurants and say I will work for free and just work for tips what are the chances of this being successful?

I'm justifying this to myself by thinking that I will contribute a lot back to America by smoking and drinking a lot (IE lots of taxes) - being awsome at selling, and upselling, ie more income for the place i work at therefore them paying more taxes ha. AND...I will give money to the ASPCA lol

I went to Vegas a few months ago and a hotel I stayed in had one person everyday working in a little coffee kiosk. the second week I was there, there were two people working there...the second person was working to translate what the customer was saying into spanish so the mexican woman working there could understand.
This kind of annoyed me a bit because I thought...why are they hiring two people to do one persons job because she can't speak english when they could let me into America and let me work there!!!

Helping someone break the law probably goes against the site rules.

good point. and obviously helping someone break the law is breaking law.

I'll just go there and see where life takes me and what happens.

Lets be honest though...I'm sure that you, or a loved one, or someone you know have at some point in your/their life, had a cash in hand job. Still breaking the law.

Actually, not if that person had permission to work. But, since you don't... run along and don't let the door hit you in your arse on the way out.

Your "employer" is required under federal law to verify you are legally able to work in the US. This is probably even more likely to occur in a border state like CA. The employer could, and would be prosecuted. It aint gonna happen.

If you can afford to then visit CA without breaking the law, otherwise wait until you can afford it later in life.

Effectively people do work for tips, the minimum wage is $4 something an hour?

And how do they get those tips?

Mostly by Credit Card.
