Default UK Passport Renewal

Hi guys,

Wondered if anyone has had a recent experience with renewing their British Passport @ the consulate in Washington?

My renewal application has been with them now for 9 weeks and ive still not recieved anything.

Is it normal to have to wait this long?

Thanks.

* The premium rate phone number they list for to look for updates hasnt been any help either.

If you do a search around this forum and perhaps the USA forum, you'll see there is a huge backlog at the British embassy for passport renewals and applications.

Hi - we mailed ours on the 11th March, it arrived on the 14th March and our card was charged on the 18th April. Still no sign of the passport, but at least we know they have the old one, and must we working on the new one if they have charged us. 12 weeks and waiting.

Perspective helps. An "absolute nightmare" would be having your home destroyed by floods along the Mississippi. Not getting your passport back in a timely manner is an inconvenience!

Well, Ian, I guess its all relative isn't it. Whilst the damage done by mother nature is devastating to those involved. For me, not being able to go to my brothers wedding would be an "absolute nightmare".

Now, more importantly, which smilies icon shall I choose to finish with....

There, that'll do.
