One of the replies is from me.
Actually killed in Sarasota in the 'wrong' part of town.

They have made an arrest:

http://www.heraldtribune.com/article...sota-homicide-

"A 16-year-old teen was arrested this weekend in connection with the shooting deaths of two British men."

They were 'known' to the suspect, and found dead near a public housing project.

The BBC report said they were unknown...
Police said both men were pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds and there was no known association between the suspect and the victims.
The suspect had no link to the two victims.

Oops. My mistake. Read the sentence wrong as relating back to the victims and not to the police.

Unless they were looking to buy drugs or hookers, sounds like they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
And shot by a 16 year old? Words fail me.

I wandered into the wrong area in Chicago once, it was after dark and I was sure I was on the right way to my hotel, but I wasn't. I was accosted by a homeless guy who wouldn't leave me alone. Thankfully I got away with being stripped of $50 and not shot in the head or raped. Cautionary tales both I suppose.

This was Sarasota... no one ever gets killed in Miami.

Sounds fishy to me though.. a public housing project, at 3am, with no open shops nearby?

Had to look up where Sarasota was. You could just about get away with calling it Tampa - but Miami?

You need to say two englishmen murdered in sarasota....machine gunned down by a black teenager....perhaps a hate crime......the art college is right beside this housing project, too blame them for being in the wrong neighborhood and that they(tourist's)should know the area,is a pathetic response to an awful tourist murder......

Machine gunned? Oh, my! I heard it was an RPG. A bazooka, even.

Hyperbole, much?

Irrelevant, much? The bottom line is that two tourists died from another gun-related crime. Arguing about what kind of gun it was seems rather pointless and petty at this point.
