Averages on utility bills / council rates?
Hi, just wandered if anyone could shed some light on the average utilty bills / council rates. I know these will vary quite a bit depending on area/house and family size, but just a rough guide would help.
We're a couple without any children, we'd be looking at renting to start (I believe rent in NZ includes rates???) buying once settled. As for areas were pretty open, from Northland, Auckland, Bay of Blenty right down the east coast, and of the South Island, Christchurch, Dunedin.
Water rates/meter
Council rates
Gas
Electric
Phone/internet
Other
Any help info is really appriciated
Cheeeeeeeeeers

Re: Averages on utility bills / council rates?
We're a couple, no kids living in Christchurch. 3 bedroom 5year old house, fairly good area on the edge of town.
Approximate costs:
Electric $100 pcm
Gas -in 45kg cylinders, living room fire and oven hob only. Cost $100 per year rental plus $100 per bottle. Still on our first bottle and moved in about 3m ago
Rates -about $1800 per year
Phone and internet - $80 per month
Sky -$55 per month
Food/household shopping/toiletries - approx $100 per week
Car insurance approx $400/year for my car
Petrol approx $150 per month - again my car, don't know his costs, we pay for our own cars
Car reg- about $380 per year, could be wrong as I can't remember and not up for renewal yet
Household insurance approx $400 per year
Can't think of any other regular outgoings
