I spend more than that on food usually around $300 + bits and pieces in the week. My gas and electric is more than that. My last 2 monthly electric bill was $365 for 61 days supply. Last gas bill was about $180 for 3 months. If you are just renting the house insurance should be OK, mine is $65 a month for buildings and contents. Our car insurance is $500 a year plus rego of about the same (like car tax). If you buy you can add shire rates and water rates of a couple of thousand dollars a year to that. I do about 350km a week and spend about $65 on petrol a week. Being out in Tapping you will have to drive a bit more so your petrol bill may be a bit higher.

I don't know about take home pay but $50k a year isn't a fantastic wage and with the cost of living being as high these days things will be tight if that is your only household income. If you have a PR visa you can bump your income a bit with family tax benefit, you won't get that if you are coming on a temp visa.

hi there,
I live in tapping with my 3 kids going to tapping primary, what i see is that your rent is correct proberly $400 per week, food is low proberly $300 per week with beer on top about $40 to $60 for case of 24 for lager not sure about Gas and electric but what you put looks cheap we were $250 for both but i dont know if thats quaterly or monthly, Home ins we are $31 Internet is a joke here for half decent which is still rubbish $50.50 per mnth.Depending on age of kids $10 might be okay. phone mine is between $80 to $90 per mnth for house phone, mobile phoneyou get a good deal with the $49 cap.
depending on your visa and if you are going to Tapping primary or Wannerro high these are state schools so you do not pay fees. The school is very busy and they take the kids by closest to the school and beyond as the crow flies especially for kindy so make sure u hit the catchment as if you do not live in Tapping there is no chance of getting in, It is a very good school.WTH PAY BETTER PLAY SAFE AND TAKE 22% of for tax which gives you a take home of around $750.00 per week.Petrol is around $1.12 per litre.Foxtel around $84+ per mnth.Hope this helps a bit and good luck with the house.

To be brutaly honest you will find it extremely hard to find work in Perth right now. The mining boom collapsed and companies are scrabbling for contracts. This has lead to a lot of contractors being sat at home until work comes in, and you'll find you'll have to get ahead of someone already on the books with local experience working for that company which will be near impossible if you have just arrived unless you're something special. I have friends out of work for nearly a year now. There are some more contracts coming in so it's not all bad. I'd wait a while unless you had a guarenteed job.

Also $50k in Perth wont go very far.
