K1 Visa - Interview, RFE and Psychatric Review
I figured I'd write this up for anyone who wants to read it incase they have a similar experiance.
After having completed and sent in the checklist, and having the medical examination, i got given my K1 interview on 6th April.
I lined up outside the embassy about 15 minutes before my appointed time. I joined a small queue of people and in groups of 3 we got let into the security building just outside the steps of the embassy itself.
I went into the embassy and at the reception desk stated i was there for a K1 visa and was given some stickers with numbers on.
I sat on one of the many chairs watching the tv screens which display everyones numbers waiting for mine to be called. my number was 5019 and the number start at 5000.
I got called to the first window where i swore everything was true to my knowledge etc then gave him the forms he asked, signed a few things, got told to go to window 14 to pay for the visa.
Once i done this i return to the window and he gave me back some of my documents and told me to sit and wait for my number to be called again for the interview.
5 hours later (yes seriously) i got called back up for my interview and got asked simple questions such as "where did you meet your fiance" "when was the first time you visited" "how many times have you been to america" "when is your wedding" "when do you plan to fly out" i wasnt asked to show any evidence though he did ask if id brought any.
then i got asked to preform a written test which was basically to write my fiances name on one of the forms. nice and easy!
He then explained that my mother-in-laws I-134 didnt hold enough income on the tax returns to be my sponsor, and that even though she showed proof of child support as it cant be on the tax forms (its tax free) it cant be included and therefore id need to find another sponsor.
He gave me my passport back and a blue slip of paper and told me to call the courier service once i had the new I-134 and to put the blue slip and passport with it.
just over a week later we had my fiances uncle fill out an I-134 and that with the required documents were sent to me via fedex. I then called the courier who picked it up the next day and took it to the embassy.
A week after that i got a call from the courier service saying they were bringing my passport back. which was great news.
later that day i called the courier service to find out where they were (as i paid for a "before noon" delivery) they said the embassy had asked for my passport back - this is where i got upset!
The embassy called me, shortly followed by knightsbridge saying i needed a psychiatric review due to a medical history including depression and medication for it.
It took knightsbridge 2 weeks to finally sort out a review for me, and i went to a specialist in Taunton.
the report was sent to knightsbridge who couriered the medical package to the embassy. (i also got a copy of the report to see what it said - basically that past depression was stress related and that my "prognosis is good")
I waited 5 days after i knew the embassy had recieved it and then called (yesterday). The lady on the phone gave me a code to put in the subject line (done this before!) but before i had even started writing the email the courier service called and said they were delivering my passport the next day.
30 minutes ago SMS turned up and have given me the all important brown envelope and my passport.
i have a visa in which says "CANCELLED WITHOUT PREJUDICE" and then on the next page the new k1 visa.
this part is now finally over and i must admit im exhausted!!!
Im going to fly out this sunday. with my cat!
thankyou for everyones help, AOS next - and this time no £2000 rip-off immigration lawyer company Global Visa!

Re: K1 Visa - Interview, RFE and Psychatric Review
thanks everyone, i cant say how much i appreciate the help, honestly your all amazing!
flight arrives on sunday at 6:18pm in chicago (their time zone) and my OH is driving up from missouri to meet me, we're gonna stay the night in chicago and then drive back next day.
(reason for this is, flight from chicago to st louis is too small to allow pets and after a 9 hour flight i dont want a 6 hour drive!)
wedding is set for june 23rd,
its strange you get the visa and you think "thank god thats over" and then you look around and realize you gotta get your ass in gear coz theres a LOT to do now lol

Fantastic news glad it all came together in the end.
I know the feeling about getting things packed. We leave in 3+ weeks.
