I am transporting my five pets with Zoom to Halifax in June time. I got a quote from a pet relocation company in December, who said it would be just over £500 from the airline for cargo costs, £980 all in.
I emailed then for an up to date quote today, now we have our permits etc, and the quote has had over £300 added to the cargo costs, now over £830
That makes it £1300 to take them with us altogether.
Does anyone know of any massive price hikes from Zoom or Zoom cargo, or are this pet company trying it on? Zoom say on their website you can't book pets directly yourself, so I feel a bit trapped...
Thanks!
Rachel

Also, there is a wiki on transporting pets. Read it.

Have you tried B/A and air Canada not 100% but they may still be carrying pets as excess.

Hi its costing £1520 to take my 3 cats back to the Uk with Zoom. Most of the Airline companies have stopped carrying pets as excess baggage. I brought my 3 cats in on excess baggage last year and it cost me £375..

Thanks for that info - my problem is Air Canada will not carry birds, so I'm quite stuck with Zoom I think, as it is my parrots I am taking!:curse:
I will try calling Zoom on Monday, but it does state on their website that people can't book directly through them, you have to use a relocation company.
Here's hoping!

I thought it was really hard importing birds to Canada.

Bet you are not wrong.
It's been a nightmare sorting the birds, we were really simple in comparison. But I got my CITES paperwork through today, just need the import permit after our house is passed for quarantine:curse:.....
Of course, every case of bird flu confirmed is an automatic 90 day stop on taking them aaaagh

Canadian Affair do not carry pets out of UK they told me
Zoom said I needed to call back and speak to a lady called Lynn on 01784 425389 who deals with pet bookings and it would not be any problem at all. Just need to provide animal & crate details. weights / Dimentions & confirm they are IATA approved crates.
I will be transporting 2 springers so don't know about birds sorry.
Give her a call see what they say.
Cheers Dave

Possibly. I only spoke to a bloke in the office who as I mentioned said the woman Lynn dealt with the transportation of animals. She might say something different as I have not called her back yet to speak to her.

Well I called Lynn ^^ this morning, they are called I think ANA Aviation, but answer the phone as Zoom.
she would be happy to book the parrots, but they will not provide the containers and want £1350 just for the space on the cargo deck - bloody hell!
Ladyhaye wanted £1300 including meeting us at the airport, five travel boxes etc, up for under £1k a few weeks ago.
What the hell is going on???...:curse:
