Default Green card on its way!!

Hubby and I had our AOS interview today in Cincy and it was a piece of cake. There were two ladies doing the interviewing, one of which our attorney had never seen before.

We got there 40 min early and waited while two couples went in and out (one couple smiling, one straight-faced). A third couple were called in. Right before that, the USC of the two had asked us if we thought she had time to go move her car out of "a bad parking spot."

Anyway, they both went in and after at least 10 min., the "alien" came out while his spouse stayed in the office. She was in there at least 15 min. before she came out and they asked for her husband to come back. We were called in by the other interviewer about 10 min. after that. She apologized for making us wait and asked us to bear with her as we were supposed to be interviewed by the other lady but she had "run into some problems" with another couple. She would now be handling our interview.

We were sworn in and she went through our file asking the routine questions. She asked if there was anything we wanted to add to the file. We did. She looked at our pictures we brought, looked up and said "You should get your card in about 2 weeks. Maybe 3 due to the holidays." She shook both of our hands and we were out of there in less than 10 min.!

When we left the "alien" was still in the other office while his wife stared us down in the waiting area. Everybody hugged and our attorney left and we went to celebrate and shop.

Congratulations. I hope the other couple were successful too. I would hate to think of a marriage being destroyed by the USCIS, but I guess it happens.

Would you mind mentioning what proof of joint life documents you took to the interview? Although it seems like the officer(s) didn't ask to review those documents!

Congratulations. Well done!

She wanted to know if we had any. I said yes and gave her the copies...she hardly looked at them. They included:

letters of employment from each of our employers
wage slips for both
auto insurance declaration page with DH listed as driver
copies of our mirror wills
copy of our new deed to house in both names
bills from home improvement contractors
health & dental insurance printouts from co. website with both names
joint checking account statments
newspaper bill in DH's name

We had no joint bills in our name at the time because I already owned the house and was established before we were married.

I think she would have looked at them more thoroughly had they not been so behind with the interviews. We were not supposed to be her case either....it was a last minute switch due to the "problem" case the other interviewer was involved with. She was supposed to be interviewing us and was familiar with our file....our interviewer had just gotten the file a few minutes before we went into her office.

We took join bank account statements, a receipt from our formal wedding (which she said was great evidence). Our officer did ask if we had photos of us at the wedding or anything and we both pullout a flash drive each and said we rarely get round to printing any, she laughed, said she wasn't going to load our flash drives into her computer for security reasons.

She asked for a letter from Mr W's employer stating that he's employed and how much he earns.

We took some other stuff, like envelopes addressed to us both, from the UK, Spain, Australia and America, that showed that our friends/family knew about the wedding, but she didn't ask for that.
Hope this helps
