Make sure you wear the same pair of shoes on each foot!!!!
How embarrassing........i just did my road driving test here in beautiful Kelowna~to come home and find i had wore a different shoe on each foot! very similar but also very different! talk about nerves!!!!
no wonder i was feeling a bit paranoid in there as i thought some were looking at me funny.
.but of course i put it down to just my general nervy feelings i was having..heheheeee
BUT other than that all went well and i now have my BC drivers licence. Only real advice i can give is the same as what everyone is saying on here...shoulder check! shoulder check!!.......only thing she commented on at the end for me to watch is my left hand turns, as on one of them i went a little wide! but that was it!
Good Luck to everyone who is taking their test in the future...oh ..and check what is on your feet b4 you leave the house

Thank you so much~..~*robski~ and Therese~i realy appreciate you taking the time to respond!
~Therese~ i would suggest that if you are realy worried about it..or the nerves take over, to consider doing a hr lesson with a driving instructor just for some finer points. i enquired about it. the cost is about $70 or so. which i was quite happy to pay. But what happened with me was it was nearly 2 months from the time i took my knowledge test, to the time i was able to get into the drivers road test! (busy this time of year) so i had some practise lessons with my husband and a friend i was feeling confident i could do it.
However i will say on the morning of it i was so nervous that i thought if i had the time over again i would have booked that 1hr lesson for a day or 2 before it. Even if it was just to help with the confident boost.
Good Luck when the time comes....i am sure you will be fine.
BTW where are you moving to..?

I wish they had an exchange policy for the UK licences in BC too. I move to BC on July 3rd, so will need to do it fairly soon too.
The idea of a lesson before hand is a good one, i think i will go for that. Thank you.

Sorry just noticed this thread but belated congratulations on passing your driving test Better you than me doing your test in Kelowana i used to freak at how many left hand turns you had to do of the main highway and i never quite got the hang of them ,I prefer Victoria so will hopefully take the test there, have you made your move over to the island yet ?

Hi there ~ i was glad i took it here as i have got used to the roads etc...however....during the test i was taken to a lot of areas i had never been in before! and luckily enough my husband took me into the one way streets area just a few days before it..i am sooo glad he did ..as it was a little confusing to be turning into a 2 lane one way street and ensure you get in the right lane!
and it is just 2 weeks till we move..am soo looking forward to it.
good luck when the time comes for you test....

When we were house hunting up that way we loved the shawnigan lake area and MIll Bay we concentrated on those areas as we wanted to get our son into Kelseys high school but as I said we were outbid on the house we went for but its still a lovely area Now hubby has the chance of a job in nanimo so were heading up there in a few weeks time so fingers crossed
Does your husband have to commute to victoria ? its a bit of a stretch but i hear a lot of people are doing it ,its trying to get the balance isnt it but hubby said he would quite happily do the commute down the malahat if he managed to get a job in victoria as you said house prices are so high there at the moment and it shows no sign of slowing
All the best for your move

I wish you all the best too!. Mill Bay was our preference too....I must say if one has to do a stretch to get to work then the Malahat is the way to go. I think that is a lovely drive! Very beautiful. Of course you will hear negative things about it (the accidents) i dont' know why some people are obsessed with sticking a negative into things. If i hear one more time about that or the rain over there and one more joke about taking an umbrella..i will scream!
I think the island is absolutely lovely. I have been across BC and Alberta and near the way across Saskatchewan. Other than the Rocky Mountians which i loved but did not see in Winter all covered in snow which i think would be awesome, vancouver island once i get up along and above that Malahat i think is my fave place. Very green and lush with beautiful mountains and scenery. I like it all along the coastal region. Nanaimo i haven't experienced other than going to the ferry. We had lunch at LadySmith and spent a night at Cambell River. I do like Victoria but only to visit for shopping or to see something special perhaps. We are planning on going to the Titanic exhibition this summer...

I do also have to say too, that i have realy enjoyed my time here in Kelowna. everywhere i go i am looking at mountains. we have been living up and out of the town (15mins) so haven't been affected by the downtown stuff....which occurs in most cities.
please do keep in touch!......

Totally agree with your post and will certainly keep in touch I just think you instinctively know when a place is right for you but sometimes wish you didnt have to travel so far to find it (UK to Canada) but I think ive found it on the island wherever we end up . All the best and will let you know if hubby gets the job in Nanimo
