Distance Comparison Perth/London
#1
I did this little experiment for my own amusement but some other's may find it helpful to gauge just how vast Perth is for getting around in.
I have made the maps the same gauge on a 10mile measure

Distance is really quite irrelevant, time is a much more important measure of distance in this case....moving 10km in London will take you considerably longer than 10km in Perth

Interesting. I was suprised how big Perth was when I first moved here and thsi confirms it.

Would that be Express Trains, Freeway's or Car?
I don't even have a trainline and I am an hour from Perth

Strange really as I'd think nothing of driving right through the centre of Perth but no way would I ever EVER have driven through London!

It's not a 100% accurate comparison as the scales are different.
10 miles on the Perth map is 2.6cm, whereas 10 miles on the London map is 2.3 cm.
You'd need to zoom in a little more on the London map to get a direct comparison of distances.
(Same with the Brisbane set - different scales again.)

I regularly drive into Perth from my home which is 27km away. Non rush hour I can do it in 20 mins. Driving in Cambridge which was my nearest City, albeit smaller, I would probably only get about 5 km in 20 mins if I was very lucky.

I drove through Brissie one saterday morning and crossed the queens bridge (I think its queens bridge, the one by south bank, someone will put me right) and as i crossed the bridge at about 10am there was two cars on it including mine.
And a train trip from Keppera, north west of the city on the Samford road, into Roma street stopping at every stop on the way and thats about 10 or more would take 1/2 an hour and cost less than $4

Victoria Bridge, used to walk across it to the city when I worked at South Brisbane pre Expo 88
