The Ashes

Anyone in Canada know where one could watch the impending Ashes series? Me thinks because of crickets huge popularity in Canada i'll have to watch a stream on the internet somewhere.

Although as a technophobe I'm sure somebody could get skysports pretty easily somehow, probably over the internet. But its not really the same as watching it on a huge television.

Hi Andrew,
I'm in the US but saw your title and it caught my attention, as I've posted similar in the USA forum.

Do you have FSC (fox soccer channel)? That carries Sky Sports News for an hour or so a day. Not much, but good for highlights. We don't have any tv cover here, except a PPV package on Direct TV, which we don't have for the same reason you gave (no dish). As far as we can tell, the BBC radio stream is blocked outside the UK, but a few people told us to check Oz/Oceania radio. Radio may be our best bet at this point, but have a look at the above link for some possibilities.
Will let you know if we find anything.

I have found what seems a legal stream for the cricket, $89 for all five tests:
http://www.cricketon.tv/
I'm sure there are some not so legal ones out there too.

You cant (legitimatley) get FSC in Canada, the best we can do is Fox Sportsworld Canada...a sort of hodgepodge, but it often carries the FSC feed.
No sign of cricket on the schedule though.
Ive listened to TMS here online before now (got some funny looks at work!) but I dont know the liscensing agreement for the ashes...it might not be available that way...and its "radio" anyway.
Your best bet is probably going to be one of the online streaming options.

Thanks-will check it out. $89 is reasonable.
I think you're right about NAs not enjoying something that can end in a draw, and it's impossible to explain it. My husband is an American (dual US/UK now), but he went to school in the UK, lived there 15+ years, so cricket became a part of his life. His mates don't get it!

According to one thread at the forums at //www.live-footy.org/
There is a "100% chance" of streaming of the cricket. No link up yet but watch that space. Not much use for your big screen though
