Default Who else is in Mass and/or NE

Just looking through Ray's frappr map - http://www.frappr.com/beusa

Seems that there is a fair few knocking around mass and the new england area, just wondered if there were any more hiding somewhere?

Any of you lot moved around various towns or states in the area?

And any nice little towns or places to go visit for a day trip?

We've been meaning to go to Salem for a while, but never made it yet, still not really gotten much further than the local towns.

Bob, we like Rockport for a day out. Driving along the coast around Beverly is beautiful, or go up to Ogunquit. To the south, Duxbury and Hull are nice, and World's End in Hingham is very pretty, you can see up to Boston. It's going to be too cold soon, if not already, to get out of the car in these places though! Have you been down to Newport? That's worth a trip too.

Salem is great (although you've just missed Halloween which would have been a great time to go! ). We have been in the summer when it was sweltering hot there and very uncomfortable but still a lovely day out.

Not been to Newport really, I think I drove around it or there abouts though..

And that Rockport, not the one in Maine is it? Because that was a couple towns over from where we use to live...

We live in a very small town out in the boonies in MA. It does seem to have a lot of community involvement, like craft fairs and band concerts on the town common in the summer/fall. We just don't have the time to get involved. A lot of it seems to be connected to one local church or another, but we don't belong to any of them (or have any interest in them) so that counts us out in those things. But it is a nice town to live in, just a bit isolated from most of the major towns.

There was an article in the Lifestyles and Art Section of the Berkshires paper "The Eagle" this weekend about the Pilmouth Settlement. Sounds great and gives an entire new meaning to what life was in the 1600's and what the frist thanksgiving really was. Rhode Island is great. Love Block Island. You can get the ferry from Port Judith. But might not be a day trip for you but a short weekend trip. Connecticut is only a short drive and there the are many great day trips on the border between Rhode Island and Connecticut. In Mass you might want to look into Sturbridge or Springfield and even the Air Force Base (Westover). Great airshow in July. There is also the annual outdoor flea and antique market in Brimfield.

Salem is very cutsie but not all it's cracked up to be.

Come see me Ray... I'll show you a good time!

We don't live in New England, but have been trying to organise a trip to Boston and other places in MA. The problem for us is finding cheap accommodation. We have tried towns outside of Boston, but the price of Hotels is still too high.

I also have a friend in Methuen who I want to go see. Unfortunately she lives in a small apartment and does'nt have room to put us up for the night. If anyone has any suggestions for cheap but good hotels, we would be grateful

Be careful if you come to the Cape...we have some very rundown motels....
A lot of people live in motels and hotels full time because there is no housing here...it can get very loud and messy in those places...but the smell of goat curry is out of this world and reminds me of my childhood......
