Shipping quotes so far:
For those of you thinking about sharing a container, we have had several quotes now for London to Perth on shared basis (avg 650 cubic foot); hope these help you decide whether or not to offload stuff:
Excess £2800 678 c.ft
John Masons £2999 645 c.ft
Robinsons £3865 882 c.ft ??
Anglo £3147 660 c.ft
Crown £3359 628 c.ft
Also have Doree Bonner quote somewhere, will add that too when I find it, it was just over £3000 from memory.
FYI:
To give you an example of costs: Double mattress costs about £160-180 to ship! We are no longer taking ours and will buy new and larger bed out there.

Re: Shipping quotes so far:
Doree Bonnor quoted £2829 for 627 c.ft. After advising them that we shall no longer take mattress, quote reduced to £2717. Then gained a final reduction and end quote is £2650. I think thats who we shall go with as feedback seems decent and sales pitch to our liking.

Thanks for sharing that information with us. We are just starting to think about shipping, we have sold the house and are moving into temporary accomodation in two weeks. We are putting alot of our stuff in storage.
Do the shippers come out to your house to give you a quote? Just wondered cos like I say some of our stuff will be in storage.

We had stuff here (short-term rental) plus stuff at our 1 bed flat that is about to sell any day now and also stuff stored in the loft. I just rattled off all the items on teh list and they allowed for it all as best they could in their quotes.

Yeah that would be easy enough to do. How far in advance are you getting quotes. We are hoping to go Jan/Feb (visa permitting ) Not sure when to start looking into it properly.

Re: Shipping quotes so far:
We have just used Bonners and I can highly recomend them (at least the UK end). The blokes were really nice and friendly, the packing was very good and they fitted nearly everything (apart from a bed which wan't meant to go anyway) in to our 20 ft container.
Just looking forward to the stuff turning up in OZ in 8 weeks or so!!

We used Crown because of there good reputation, but we all have good and bad experiences with different companies no matter how much they quote you!!

Re: Shipping quotes so far:
Our first quote is from Doree Bonner for 600 cubic feet £3400 but that is packing everything also. Obviously needs to come down a bit judging by the prices on this thread so far.
Do all these figures include full packing ?
