My husband has been offered a job in Australia, but because he is a semi-skilled worker we are having great difficulty with this. The Employer Sponsored Visa has lots of implications with it and a 457 visa only lets us into the country for 2 years temporary visa, then we have to apply for Permanent visa sitting medicals etc again, but no guarantee of PR.
My husband has all the training needed for the post in Australia. He can also bring alot into the business - he has 18 years work experience in an aluminium smelter, with supervisory and managements skills behind him in that trade, driving cranes, handling seals, computer input, shotblasting - which is very much the same work (hands on) as he has been offered in Australia. Alot of connecting experience between the two jobs. The employer has stated that he will employ an Australian apprentice within a year of my husband starting work. He also says it is in a regional area, but it is not on the emigration website as a regional area. Two numbers out!! The area code for the business is ..26 and the area code starts for emigration purposes ..28. Although the areas are very close to each other. The employer can prove that he has already advertised the post and it wasnt filled and he then employed an australian apprentice who let him down, he broke alot of tools etc, time waster and ended up in jail. Does anyone know how we can possibly get into Australia without major problems.
We have been in touch with an emigration specialist in Australia, but he is not very forthcoming with information and will only answer a question if we ask it. The specialist keeps changing the goal posts for us too. I dont honestly think he knows what he is doing!

Hi!
We're going via RSMS - just waiting to hear. We're pleased with what it can offer us and more than happy with the restrictions in place - ie committing for min of 2 yrs etc.
We would've chosen different employer if 457 was all they could offer but this was first job we liked and got it straight off so we've been very lucky.
You'll get more advice from the agents - both Alan and Jeremy are clued up on 457 versus RSMS or ENS - on the immigration pages, have you posted on there too?
Lots on here have gone for 457, some pleased, others not so.
Good luck and perhaps try different agent if you're not getting much feedback - there's loads out there!

[QUOTE=jothefw]Hi!
Hi, thanks for your reply. Sorry I am new on this, not sure what the abbreviations mean. Can you help please! I am unsure as well as to the Immigration part you ask if we had advertised on.
The Regional State Government - when the employer (who we personally know and has offered to sponsor us) contacted the Regional State Government to enquire about a semi-skilled worker working for him but to waive the Temp Visa and allow a Perm Visa straight away, the Gov stated that that we could only come in permanently if employer had $1m, were prepared to employ at least 20 people and had leading edge technology that was required. Neither us or our employer (to be, hopefully) could meet that criteria. (Not quite sure how many people could).
Employment Sponsorship - The business is small, and under one of the conditions he has to guarantee a wage of minimum $42,000 per annum. Plus hire an apprentice within a 12 month period also. He cannot guarantee this because of the size of the business - but because he cannot employ anyone in, he is always going to fall into this category. With my husband's experience and work record, we were prepared to work for less and also start our own business up to run alongside it, but even this does not look favourable. I would also start my own business too! We would possibly end up hiring people to work for us also.
Can I ask what experience you have please? How do we get in touch with the people you recommended please?

A query like yours needs the assistance of an experienced professional familiar with both ENS and RSMS. An online forum is unlikely to give you the information you need, sorry.
